GVT e Echostar querem criar gigante de TV paga no Brasil

A americana Echostar Corp (SATS), fornecedora de operações via satélite e a francesa Vivendi SA (VIV.L, VIVEF.PK), subsidiária da operadora de TV paga GVT estão negociando a criação de uma joint venture de serviços de TV por assinatura no Brasil .
Com o acordo, a EchoStar e a GVT pretendem se posicionarem como líderes no crescente mercado de TV paga brasileiro.A expectativa das duas empresas é que a TV por assinatura no Brasil seja beneficiada com o esperado aumento da demanda impulsionado por dois eventos globais a serem realizadas no país: Copa do Mundo em 2014 e Jogos Olímpicos em 2016.A joint venture será sediada no Brasil, gerida pela GVT, que tem atualmente cerca de 600 mil assinantes por aqui. A operadora iniciou seus trabalhos no país em 2012.
Se for concretizada, a parceria deve dar fôlego a GVT, que chegou a receber propostas de compra da DirecTV, controladora da Sky no Brasil.
A joint venture ainda depende de um acerto final entre as partes e aprovações regulatórias dos órgãos responsáveis.
